When we gather to celebrate Mass we do so in two parts: the Liturgy of the Word, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. In the Liturgy of the Word we listen to the words of Sacred Scripture: of God’s care for his people, and of Christ’s own life and teaching. When we listen, we do so in order that we might better know and understand God’s call for us in our own lives, and how we are called to live as Catholics in the world.

Readers assist in the Liturgy of the Word by proclaiming the words of Sacred Scripture for the people to hear. If you would like to assist as a reader in your parish, please speak to your Parish Priest or your parish co-ordinator.
