
Note: A life profile of Sister Rose Confidence Maduka
Sister. M. Rose Confidence is an Immaculate Heart of Mary Sister. Born on the 17th of May 1954 into the Christian family of Mr and Mrs Dennis Maduka, Sister had her secondary education at Charles Heerey Memorial Juniorate Urualla from 1974 – 1979 and then went onto her formation into sisterhood from 1980 to 1983.
She then made her first religious profession on the 18th July 1983 and her final profession in Nigeria September 1989.
With regards to her career, Sister worked as Hospital Secretary from 1983 to 1985 before she was sent on mission to Kenya from 1985 to 1989. She then returned to Nigeria in 1989 where she proceeded to Amaigbo Joint Hospital Imo State to commence her Nursing education, qualifying as a registered Nurse in 1993. Foĺlowing this she went on to Midwifery education at Specialist Hospital Waterside Onitsha, Anambra State in 1994 where she later qualified as a registered Midwife in 1995
Following completion of her studies, Sister was then sent on her second mission to Kenya from 1995 to 2001 during which time she worked at Immaculate Heart of Mary Hospital Kilimambogo Thika Nairobi as the Hospital Administrator.
Following this, she was sent on another mission to England where she was based at the Archdiocese of Birmingham from 2001 to 2020.
Within these years she worked as a registered Nurse at various places – New Milton Nursing home, Ash Hall Nursing home and then Royal Stoke University Hospital, Stoke On-Trent where she spent 16years of service and was in charge of temporal Professed Sisters of the English zone of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters for 11years.
Sister was then sent to her now current mission to Scotland from 2020 where she was part of the Sisters that opened a new community in Kilmarnock in the Diocese of Galloway and it is here she currently remains as the appointed Representative of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Scottish Sub regional zone.
Sister’s journey as a nun and a nurse has been defined by a routine of prayer, selflessness, and service. She retains a profound connection with her community and people at large to whom she serves with great humility and grace.
